In continuation of its anti-graft war, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has recovered a total of $38 million, N23 million and 27,000 Euros from a sting operation it carried out on a building in Ikoyi, Lagos.
New Telegraph learnt that the recovery was made at an apartment located within the Osborne Towers, a choice area in the commercial city.
The feat, according to highly placed sources, was consequent upon a tip-off by a whistle-blower, who may be compensated with about N500 million.
The source said: “What happened today only confirms how effective the President Muhammadu Buhari-led whistle-blowing policy has been.
“The Commission received a tip-off from a whistle-blower on the hidden cash in stashed in the affected apartment in Ikoyi.
“Proactively, we moved in to do our constitutional duty. In fact, we had to immediately alert officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to come with counting machines.”
